Virgin Mimosa

The other day when we made the stirfry I promised to show you the drink I created to go with it. Here it is, Virgin Mimosa.

It is deliciously yummy, though my sweet tooth son made a face like a cat’s bum and said it tastes sweet but sour at the same time. This is good, this is a Virgin cocktail, or a mocktail if you prefer the term. As it is supposed to replace an alcoholic cocktail we want complexity of flavour, that said, don’t be scared, this one is really simple.

We are going to build this one straight into our glass. I have here a glass that holds about 350ml, this is a nice size for this, if your glass is bigger or smaller just adjust the amounts.

Ingredients

1 teaspoon elderflower cordial

1/3 cup fresh orange juice

1/3 cup sparkling apple juice

1/3 cup soda water

Ice

Place the elderflower cordial into the bottom of the glass, top with the orange juice and then the fizzy things, give it a stir, fill the glass the rest of the way with ice. Delicious!

Did you read the beef stirfry recipe? If so you will know that this is a good beverage to have with dinner if you are watching your iron levels, the vitamin C in orange juice will help your body to absorb any iron that is in your meal.
