Spiced Latte - Part Two

Updated: May 17, 2020

I have my fire on today, it is cold and grey outside and every time I venture out the sky throws water at me to drive me back into the house. Hey, I am not complaining, people who live on tank water never complain about the rain!

My spiced latte is fast becoming my favourite beverage, I popped some in a small pot on the top of the fire box this morning and house smells like Christmas.

Because I am now having this drink most days I decided to blend it all into a small jar, see if I can get a vanilla bean to infuse the spice instead of adding vanilla extract.

I still had to add a bit of vanilla to this morning’s batch, but I can smell the vanilla in the mix so it will get there, just needs a little more time.

So this was roughly one part ground ginger to two parts ground cinnamon and turmeric and one vanilla bean split down the middle and folded in half. I gave it all a good shake, I think I might add a little more ginger to the mix as it is a little less gingery than I like, but that is the very best thing about making these things for yourself, you can tailor them to your own taste.

So now I just add the teaspoon full of maple syrup, half a cup of almond milk and half a cup of water to a half a teaspoon of this mix, heat very gently so all the flavours have time to marry, top with freshly grated nutmeg and I am good to go!
